Navan offers a wealth of sporting and leisure activities all within easy reach. For those who enjoy a round of golf, there are many championship courses as well as public courses within a few miles. The majority of these are parkland courses but links courses are also available inside the county.

Angling and fishing are very popular pursuits and whether you prefer being on a lake, a river or on the coast, the choice is yours. Meath has a strong Gaelic Games tradition, particularly Gaelic football, and the county grounds are at Pairc Tailteann in Navan.

Throughout the summer months, there are regular club and county games being played for those visitors who wish to sample this aspect of Irish culture.



Ireland is considered by many to be the home of horse racing with many of the top horses in the world born, bred and trained in Ireland. Navan has its own top quality race track ( also incorporating a golf course ) with regular race meetings.

Not far from Navan, you will find Fairyhouse Race Course, the home of the Irish Grand National. There are also races held in Bellewstown and strand racing at Laytown, both in County Meath.

For walkers, The Boyne Way, which begins almost directly opposite Athlumney Manor Bed and Breakfast, and the Loughcrew Hills provide perfect walking through the beautiful Royal County landscape. Meath also has a wide range of formal gardens which are open to the public - again, Pat and Pauline will be happy to help arrange day trips.
